Awami League to send names to Election Commission search panel

The Awami League has decided to send names to the search committee formed by the President to recommend names for the next Election Commission

The leaders of the ruling party said the decision was taken at a joint meeting of the party's Working Committee and Advisory Council on Monday.

Party chief Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina chaired the meeting at the Ganabhaban.

The Awami League's main rival the BNP and its allies have also decided to respond to the search committee's call for proposing names for next election commissioners, including the chief.

The BNP, however, doubts the search committee's impartiality
