The national team cricketer Arafat Sunny on Sunday claimed innocence in the case filed under the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Act.

Sunny was put on a one-day remand after Dhaka metropolitan magistrate Pranab Kumar granted police a one day remand after they sought a five-day remand for the cricketer.

Mohammadpur police arrested Sunny from Aminbazar area in the morning and produced him before the chief metropolitan magistrate's court at around 3pm.

A senior police official seeking anonymity said a woman said to be married to the cricketer filed the case with Mohammadpur police on 5 January.

She alleged that Sunny had uploaded some of their intimate pictures on social media recently and also threatened the woman in other ways.
